Looking back at 2012

Looking back at 2012, there were drastic changes in my life, filling it with ups and downs, hopes and despairs.

During my final semester in NUS, I was juggling with FYP, other modules and job hunting. In mid-April, I was "fortunate" to signed an employment contract with a management system consultant company as an EHS Consultant. Never did I know that it would turn out to be a disappointment. While I was enjoying my graduation trip in China, I received the news of the extension of working hours from the company. As both sides failed to come to an agreement on the remuneration package, I rejected the offer.

It was tough finding a suitable job when the supply was higher than demand in June. Although I had a couple of offers, such as WSH Officer (6-day week), Financial Planner and Sales Marketing Associate, I rejected them because I felt that it was not a good match to my job expectations.

On 24 October, my dear father passed away suddenly due to rupture of aortic blood vessel. It was an instant death. Several scenes have been replaying in my mind like TV drama, such as the very moment when I picked up the phone and received the news of my father's demise, the moment when I saw my dad "sleeping" in the mortuary for body identification and scenes at the wake. We are all in a love-hate relationship with my dad. Some things that he did just seem so hard to forgive but there were moments when I did appreciate what he did for me. I just want to say, "Papa, I miss you. Please be well."

Finally, after 6 months of job hunting, I got job offers from Ministry and Stat Board. Both have interesting job scopes but I am more inclined towards taking up the job from Stat Board as it is related to my discipline of study and allow me to pursue a career that I will be interested it. I think this job is a blessing from my late father. "Thank you for fulfilling my wish." This job has made the tedious 6-month job hunting journey worthwhile.

2012 was definitely a fulfilling year as I established several milestones in my life:
   - Graduated with Bachelor of Engineering (Environmental Science & Engineering
   - 14-day China Graduation trip with Shu Yi, Chee Yong and Dareen
(Places included Shanghai, Beijing, Inner Mongolia, Suzhou)
